Major Depressive Disorder (MDD) affects an estimated 10% of people in South Africa, and over 300 million people worldwide. Globally, MDD is the leading cause of disability. Feelings of hopelessness and emptiness, loss of interest in activities, and overwhelming guilt are just some of the symptoms.
Many people who have MDD experience trouble falling and/or staying asleep at night, even with antidepressant use. Lack of sleep can in turn cause a worsening of depression.
Our clinical trials are testing investigational medicines for Major Depression + Insomnia to find out if they may help people with this condition.
- We are looking for volunteers to take part in clinical trials to understand the condition and help find new treatments
- Eligible volunteers who choose to participate may receive study-related care from local doctors and specialists
- Synexus may also be able to help with transport to and from one of our clinics
All Synexus Trials are approved by SAHPRA and a Research Ethics Committee.
